Sabrina is one of our amazing Desk Angels at the Bella Prāṇa Wellness Collective. Sabrina began her yoga journey after practicing law and realizing how much it can help quiet her thoughts and aches in the body. When Sabrina is at the front desk, we know our students will be greeted and taken care of with love. Her quick willingness to help gives us a sense of peace and gratitude, and she reminds us to take things lightly and with a sense of humor. Read below to learn about Sabrinas yoga journey!

What brought you to yoga? How has it impacted your world?

I started my yoga journey in 2014 after an owner of a local boxing gym invited me to a free yoga class for gym members. After taking the class, I incorporated yoga into my workout regimen to offset the muscular strain caused by typical gym workouts and martial arts. However, it was not until I began practicing law that I realized that yoga was so much more than physical practice and a nice stretch for the body. On the verge of burnout syndrome, yoga became my outlet to decompress. It allowed me to detach from everyday responsibilities and tune into myself. I recently completed the 200hr Teacher Training course at Bella Prana, which not only enhanced my understanding of yoga and yogic philosophy, but it also advanced my knowledge with regards to the human body. For someone who deals with orthopedic injuries on a regular basis, but is not a licensed healthcare professional, yoga teacher training has refined my understanding of musculature and movement and has proven to be beneficial in my legal practice.

What advice can you give to those who are just beginning their practice?

The best advice that I can offer to those who are just beginning their practice is to remember to breathe. If all you can do in a class is breathe, you’re doing the work; you’re doing yoga.

Why are you a Bella Prāṇa Desk Angel?

For me, it’s about learning what needs to be done to keep a studio running and connecting with the community. After all, Dr. Sanjay Gupta says that human interaction keeps the brain sharp.

What’s one of your favorite (healthy) recipes that you would like to share with the Bella Prāṇa community?

Kitchari/khichdi is an Ayurvedic cleansing meal that produces balancing effects for all three doshas. I cook this from scratch without a recipe, but this one lays a pretty good foundation for it.
