Charlotte Paparella is our Desk Angel of the Month! She is an absolute blessing to the Collective. With an inspiring dedication to her practice, and a warmth that makes everyone feel welcome, we are beyond grateful to have Charlotte in our Collective Family. We asked her some questions to get to know her, check out below, and don’t miss the recipe she shares!
What brought you to yoga?
How has it impacted your world?I first tried yoga as a way to cope with my anxiety/depression and related symptoms. From the first class I took, a Flow Yoga Level 1 class. I was hooked and felt an immediate shift in my mental health and overall wellness. I made a commitment to myself to continue with a yoga practice to get me through the tough days and make my good days even better. I have learned to listen to my body, live more fully and with intention, and how to breathe through the discomfort (in yoga and in life). Through my practice, I have found spirituality and peace that has brought purpose and meaning to my life. I am forever grateful to the practice of Yoga for shifting my life in a more meaningful and fulfilling direction.
What advice can you give to those who are just beginning their practice?
Leave your ego at the door, find the humor in your mistakes, BREATHE, and take it one step (or asana) at a time.
Why are you a Bella Prana Desk Angel?
I first became a desk angel as a way to immerse myself into a community of people with similar interests and appreciation for yoga as me. Being a desk angel has allowed me to continue my daily yoga practice as I worked through graduate school, meet many great humans, and foster a meaningful relationship with a practice that I otherwise would not have been able to afford at that time in my life.
What’s one of your favorite (healthy) recipes that you would like to share with the Bella Prana community?
One of my all-time favorite recipes was first introduced to me in High School, by my best friend’s mom. It’s a Black Bean Salad with Corn, Avocado & Lime Vinaigrette; the best tortilla chip dip, side, snack or light lunch that you can possibly make for yourself. A definite crowd (and taste bud) pleaser. Thanks again, Mrs. Boderck!
