Vanessa is one of our incredible teachers at the Bella Prāṇa Wellness Collective. Most of us experience that constant chatter in our brains, making us feel like a motor that can be difficult to shut off. Finding a quiet space, setting a timer for 1 minute and breathing can dramatically change the rest of your day. Just one minute! Vanessa’s classes are special because she takes a few minutes at the beginning of class to let you arrive, and what a difference it makes! When/how did you discover yoga?
In high school, I went to a yoga class at the YMCA with my friend Rebecca. I took dance my whole life and flowing on the mat felt very familiar and freeing! I instantly loved it!
What do you love about teaching yoga?
Teaching yoga reminds me that I am a student of yoga. It reminds me that I am “in process” as a human and inspires me to continue to be curious about the human experience. No two classes are ever the same. I love seeing, speaking with and experiencing everyones energy in front of me each time.
How has yoga and meditation changed your life?
I have had a habit of being in my head and out of my body throughout my life. Yoga was the first practice where I discovered how connected the subtle body (mental, emotional and spiritual aspects) and the physical body are. The concept of embodiment now informs every choice I make in my life.
Why do you teach at Bella Prana?
Bella Prana has given me so much- authentic friendships, a sanctuary, healing, and numerous opportunities! I am honored to be a part of this collective that is committed to the well being of humanity.
I am a Siwa Murti Healer- one of the first people in the United States to learn this powerful Balinese energy healing technique.
