Each time John enters the studio he has a big smile on his face. His happiness is contagious and his dedication to his practice is inspiring. John’s delightful energy is why he is our Student of the Month for October! He tells us more about his yoga journey below.
What do you love about yoga?
It is the most efficient form of exercise. From an MMA background, I would practice what would be labeled external (i.e. kung fu, xing yi) and internal (i.e. tai chi, qi gong) styles. External, working the outer muscles of the body, internal working inside the body. Yoga can be considered both, so you don’t have to work out that much.
How has yoga and meditation changed your life?
“Yoga helps you conquer life, meditation helps you conquer death”. Hahaha, that was a saying I read somewhere about martial arts and meditation, I think the same might apply. Meditation is a virtue I believe.
Why do you practice at Bella Prana?
I’ve had the ability to not only attend some great classes but the opportunity to hear some great messages from instructors. The positive words, and speeches, create a mantra in your mind which create a positive path in your life.
What posture/asana makes you feel your best when practicing?
Handstands, I feel awesome.
