Radiant Light: Ashton

When you think about a ray of Sunshine, you think about Ashton Atkinson.  Ashton’s bright smile and compassion radiate throughout our Bella Prana community. Ashton is a dedicated yogi bringing yoga to our youth.  Congrats to Ashton as we celebrate her as Teacher of the Month for December 2019!

When/how did you discover yoga?

Yoga entered my life when I was a stressed-out college student seeking an outlet to burn off some extra steam. At the time, I was merely focused on the Asana practice, but I have grown to love yoga in an entirely new capacity.

What do you love about teaching yoga?

What isn’t there to love about teaching yoga? Yoga has brought so much goodness and healing into my life, that I want to share this gift with all. It brings me pure enjoyment watching students develop their physical practice as well as in their personal life due to yoga. I love holding space for others to recharge and grow.

How has yoga and meditation changed your life?

Yoga and meditation have changed my life in innumerable ways! Yoga encourages me to challenge my creativity, body, soul, and mind. While many things in my life have changed over the years, yoga has remained constant and I value the person I have become due to the practice.

Why do you teach at Bella Prana?

When I first moved to Tampa, Bella Prana was the first studio I visited and instantly knew it was home. I have grown from student to Desk Angel, and now a teacher I am grateful for the opportunity the studio has provided me to do so. Bella is so much more than a yoga studio to me – it is a place of beautiful energy, love, community, and family.

Why do you love teaching kids?

It is never too early to begin practicing yoga and I often think about my life if I had learned about yoga as a child. While I am there to facilitate kids through class, I believe I am the one learning more from them. These little yogis do a great job of reminding me to have FUN, be patient, take risks, and live from the heart. Their light is never dull and is always there to recharge mine!

You can find Ashton on Saturday teaching ages 4-7 at Bella Prana Yoga and Meditation in Tampa, Florida.
