Balance and Practice

 

Walking in with a friendly smile, calm demeanor and pleasant personality, Mike Stanchina is devoted to his weekly practice on the mat.  Finding us by chance when he traveled for business to the Tampa area, we are now fortunate to have Mike call us his yoga home when he settled here. We are thrilled and delighted to celebrate Mike as our Student of the Month for December 2020. Learn how his practice brought balance and clarity to his life.

What do you love about yoga?

I have been practicing 3-4x a week or so for 7 years now and I cannot say enough on how it has changed my life. Not only are there the obvious physical benefits (losing 55 lbs.) but also the mental benefits. When I started my yoga journey, I was going through an extraordinary amount of chaos in my life. My practice helped me put things into perspective and helped me power through my adversity.

How has yoga and meditation changed your life?

It has given me an outlet to improve my health and wellbeing but also has given me the opportunity to meet many dynamic instructors and students.

Why do you practice at Bella Prana?

I used to travel quite a bit for work and would always drop into studios whenever I was on the road.  I discovered the studio on a business trip to Tampa over 5 years ago. When I moved to Tampa 2 years ago, I knew this is where I wanted to be. Along with the excellent facilities and instructors, I enjoy the breath of classes the studio offers on a weekly basis. Also, I enjoy the community at Bella Prana and have gotten to know a lot of fellow yogis from various backgrounds that share a common love for the practice.

What is your style of class to attend?

I like the variety of classes from the traditional Power flows to Hot 26 and the Gentle classes.
