Alison’s Gentle Heart

When you walk into Alison’s class you immediately feel a sense of a great big heart that is about to surround you with love, kindness and compassion.  Alison cares about every single one of her students.  Her cues are on point, she supports your practice wherever you are, and when you depart her class, she is there with that great big heart that greeted you when you entered.  We are so honored to feature Alison as our Teacher of the Month for January 2020!  Thank you Alison for being a bright shining light in our community.

When/how did you discover yoga?

After college, I took a few yoga classes, but I didn’t really connect the dots. After the passing of both of my parents at a very young age, I came back to yoga seeking something different. With time and maturity, I began to see the real value in a consistent yoga practice.

What do you love about teaching yoga?

I love teaching yoga for so many reasons but mostly because of the relationships I have formed with the students. So many amazing people from all different backgrounds come to my classes and I have grown so much just by knowing and learning from them.

How has yoga and meditation changed your life?

Yoga and meditation have changed my life by reminding me that we are whole as we are. Yoga reminds me daily to be grateful for all that I have and all that I am without needing to change anything. Learning to accept things as they are and watch them unfold in due course has been the greatest lesson for me.

Why do you teach at Bella Prana?

I teach at Bella Prana because of all of the studios I have ever practiced in… Bella Prana just feels like home. The owners have created such a warm, inclusive environment and their vision resonates with me.

Tell us a fun fact about you!

A fun fact about me? Hmmm… I was a gymnast as a child, and I feel that informs my yoga practice and my teaching as well.
