What do you love about Yoga?
In addition to the obvious physical benefits, yoga has been great for my mind. While I always enjoy my practice, it’s not fun all the time. There are many times when I struggle and become frustrated. Then I refocus on my breath and remember that it’s just yoga! Everyone is doing his or her own practice and it doesn’t matter what the person next to you is doing.
Why do you practice at Bella Prana?
Roni has created a wonderful environment for students to cultivate their practice. The instructors (especially Dina and Tina) are all phenomenal and there is something different you can learn from each of them. I need to take a moment and show my gratitude to Tina Tidwell who has been working with me the past few years. Not only is she a gifted teacher, but she is also an amazing human being. Tina has been instrumental in my progress and is one of the main reasons I go to Bella Prana.
How has Yoga changed your life?
Last year I had two close friends die very unexpectedly. My yoga practice was a big help during this time. It kept me centered and taught me that sometimes there are no answers as to why things happen in life. There will always be setbacks on and off the mat but it’s important to keep showing up and breathe. Slowly but surely, yoga is helping shape the way I look at the world around me. I’m becoming a little more optimistic, worrying slightly less, and trying to just take things as they come.
