When/how did you discover yoga?

I first started a meditation practice when I was deployed to Japan and was immersed in their culture. After I was honorably discharged from the Marines in 2016, my mom suggested going to a yoga class with her to help me with several of my injuries from the military. I immediately fell in love with the way yoga made me feel and the connection between mind, body, and breath that became clear on the mat.

What do you love about teaching yoga?

Teaching yoga allows me to get in touch with my creative side as I put together flows and sequences. I love sharing the gift and healing potential of yoga with everyone and my passion is to help people move and feel better in their bodies. When a student comes to me and tells me that they are improving in their practice or something that I said in class resonated with them, my heart lights up and I feel like I’m doing what I was put on this Earth to do.

How has yoga and meditation changed your life?

Yoga and Meditation have changed my life by helpingme to heal my body and calm my mind. When I was in the Marines, I was a different person. I had a short temper, and my emotions were all over the place. Yoga and meditation helped me to find my center and allowsme to live life in a grounded and compassionate way.

Why do you teach at Bella Prana?

I love the vibe at Bella Prana. The teachers, students and staff are all extremely friendly and love to help. I feel at home with liked minded people. I also like the fact that mirrors in the class are optional. I feel that practicing yoga without a mirror allows us to feel deeper in our practice instead of worrying about what we look like or comparing ourselves to other students.

Tell us a fun fact about you?

I’m half Moroccan and half Greek. I’m the first person on either side of my family to be born in America. Growing up I spent the summers in Morocco with my family which allowed me to expand my knowledge and perspective with other cultures. Another fun fact is my Mom is also a yoga teacher, so I proudly followed in her footsteps.

Bella Prana offers over 90+ classes a week from Beginner to Hot Power Yoga classes.  We are located at 1112 W. Platt Street, Tampa and offer a $39 New Student Special for one month of unlimited yoga.
