Grounded by Yoga: Skyler

Our desk angel for December 2019 is Skyler DeVries. Skyler embodies the definition of a hard worker. He is self-motivated and is always lending a hand around the Bella Prana studio. Skyler talks about what helps ground him and shares one of his favorite recipes.  We hear he’s a grill master as well!  Next time you stop by Bella, say hello to Skyler.

What do you love about yoga?

I love the way yoga connects my mind and body.  Each entity is individually powerful but the synergy of them really makes me feel great.

How has yoga and meditation changed your life?

Physically, yoga has allowed me to continue to enjoy my favorite sports: ice hockey and golf.  Before yoga, I would be sore, tight, and uncomfortable for days after.  Classes such as Yin have prevented soreness and have made my recovery time more rapid.

Mentally, yoga has taught me to be an open listener to everything and everyone around me.

Why did you want to be a Desk Angel at Bella Prana?

Bella Prana has a certain calmness about it that is easy to enjoy whether you are practicing or not.

What’s one of your favorite (healthy) recipes that you would like to share with the Bella Prana community?

Most recently, I’ve enjoyed making balsamic roasted brussel sprouts.  I put them on the grill or in the oven with salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and drizzle a bit of balsamic glaze over them when they are just about done.  For Sykler’s brussel sprouts recipe, click here.
