Carla’s deep rooted mission for her students is to find that center, that mind-body connection and to celebrate it in their own unique expression. Starting her students’ day off for an early morning Hot Power Hour class, Carla reminds her students to slow down, stay rooted and keep supported. We are thrilled to celebrate Carla Marconi as our Teacher of the Month for September 2020.
When/how did you discover yoga?
I discovered yoga right after college when aches and pains of sitting at a desk 9-5 started creeping in. What started as a pain management tool, quickly morphed into a beautiful journey of self-discovery.
What do you love about teaching yoga?
Through teaching Yoga, I love guiding my students to slow down, maintain self-awareness and reconnect to the present moment. While on the mat I invite them to honor how they feel – mind, body and soul – within the moment and take empowered intentional action as they move through the postures, challenging themselves equally as much as they celebrate their personal expression of each pose. My mission as a yoga teacher is to support my students on the mat, so they can feel grounded and supported off the mat.
How has yoga and meditation changed your life?
What I have learned on my mat are invaluable lessons and tools for everything else I do off my mat. From using breath to slow down my mind and ground myself, to moving my body intentionally to bring about a fresh perspective to a problem, or simply moving my body and flowing just for fun. Yoga and Meditation have allowed me to embody my true authentic self without taking myself too seriously, always trusting on my inner Guidance and maintaining awareness as I progress and transform into my Higher Self.
Why do you teach at Bella Prana?
From the moment I set foot in Bella Prana, originally as a student, I knew I had just discovered a beautifully magical community. Now as a teacher, I am honored to be a part of the group of people that facilitate this magic, and love creating sacred spaces for my students to have transforming experiences.
Tell us a fun fact about you.
I’m Venezuelan (moved to the US when I was 13) and I used to play Basketball in High School! Baller!!
